Sajjad Ali Thinks ‘Besharam Rang’ is a Plagiarized Version of His Song ‘Ab Ke Hum Bichare’ [Video]

“…it reminded me of my song I released 26 years ago”.

Pakistan’s legendary music artist, Sajjad Ali took a subtle dig at Bollywood for the ‘inspiration’ it allegedly took from his song for the hit song Besharam Rang from the Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer film Pathaan.

Sajjad Ali shared a video on social media in which he sang one of his classic songs, Ab Ke Hum Bichare, with his son providing the guitar riff on a keyboard. He captioned it:

After listening to a new movie’s song, it reminded me of my song I released 26 years ago, Ab Ke Hum Bichare. Enjoy!!

The Babia singer did not mention the song or movie name he was referring to but it was strikingly obvious to everyone on the internet. The recently released dance track, Besharam Rang, is composition is eerily similar to Ab Ke Hum Bichare.

Netizens slammed Bollywood for shamelessly copying another Pakistani artiste’s composition without giving them any credit or acknowledgment. People also enjoyed the original track’s soulful poetry as compared to its Bollywood counterpart’s trashy lyrics.

The song Behsharm Rang is a hot-button topic in India these days as many Hindu extremists claim that it promotes obscenity and defiles the sacred color, saffron, because Deepika Padukone dances suggestively in the video while clad in a saffron bikini.

This isn’t the first time that Bollywood has ripped off a Pakistani musician, and sadly, it may not be the last. It is common knowledge that Indian music labels copy songs of famous Pakistani artists. Recent examples of this plagiarism and theft include Hadiqa Kiani’s Boohey Barian and Abrar-ul-Haq’s Nach Punjabaan.

The latter filed a lawsuit against Karan Johar for using his song, Nach Punjabaan, in the film JugJugg Jeeyo. Despite receiving credits in the movie, the Pakistani singer is still going through with legal action against the Bollywood producer.

Sajjad Ali is a legend in the Pakistani music industry. Known for his versatile and iconic vocals, the famous singer has been entertaining the masses since 1979.

He is trained in classical singing but has proved his merit in rock and pop music as well, with hit songs like Laari Adda, Babia, and Cinderella.
