Viral Song Celebrates Pakistan Army Leadership’s Heroics After May 9 Riots

Who asked for this!?

A viral song celebrating the “heroics” of Pakistan Army leadership during the May 9 riots has caught everyone’s attention on Twitter.

Murtaza Ali Shah, a news reporter, found a cringey new anthem to praise Pakistani Army’s leadership for bravely ordering their troops to squash the violent riots that took place following the arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan, from the grounds of the Islamabad High Court.

The song not only tried to instill a sense of patriotism among the Pakistani awaam but also took a few cheeky digs at PTI politicians who got arrested or fled the country. It is unclear whether this is an ISPR-approved anthem or not. We’ll let you be the judge of that.

The clip was shared on the popular microblogging site, explaining that the song is “released in praise of the current Pakistan army leadership, promising to go after 9 May attackers on Pakistan Army.”

From calling Major General Faisal Naseer “Cheeta” to joking out PTI politicians fleeing the country, the tasteless anthem has Twitterati in fits.

The May 9 riots were a series of violent incidents that took place earlier this year following the arrest of Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court. The unexpected arrest led to civil unrest nationwide.

Pakistan Army leadership ordered the arrest of PTI supporters after several broke into various military installations, including the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the Lahore Corps Commander’s residence, an ISI office in Faisalabad, and Radio Pakistan’s building in Peshawar were damaged by the protesters.

The government tried to silence the masses by enforcing a social media lockdown, which backfired as the Pakistani awaam had a trump card up their sleeves — VPN!
