National T20 Cup Points Table 2021

Pakistan’s six domestic cricket associations will go head to head in Rawalpindi and Lahore to compete for the coveted National T20 Cup 2021 title.

Defending champions, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will be looking to retain their title while former champions, Northern, will be looking to get their hands on the trophy once again. The other four cricket associations, Sindh, Central Punjab, Southern Punjab and Balochistan have not yet been crowned as the National T20 Cup champions and will be determined to win the tournament this time around.

Only two National T20 Cups have been played since the change in the domestic structure of Pakistan cricket a couple of years ago. In the two competitions, Northern have been the most successful side in the group stages of the National T20 Cup, finishing at the top of the table in both the editions. They will be looking to repeat their sublime performances in the National T20 Cup 2021.

The format of the tournament is double round-robin and knockouts. Each team will play against each other twice in the group stage of the tournament and the top four teams according to the National T20 Cup points table 2021 will qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.

The tournament will be played in two phases. The first phase will be held in Rawalpindi from 23 September to 3 October while the second phase will be played in Lahore from 6-13 October. The action will begin on 23 September as former champions, Northern take on Balochistan in a high-octane clash at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Points Criteria for Group Stages

The group stages of the National T20 Cup 2021 will be held in accordance with the rules and regulations of the tournament as per the International Cricket Council rule book.

The points system implemented in the group matches of the National T20 Cup 2021 is the same as the points system in any ICC authorized event. The winner of the match will be awarded two points. If the match ends in a no result then both the teams will be awarded one point, while there are zero points for a loss. In case the match ends in a tie, the winner of the encounter will be determined via a super over.

In a super over, both teams will play one over and the team with the highest runs in the over will be declared the winner and will be awarded two points. In case the super over ends in a tie then continuous super overs will be played until there is a result.

The ranking of the teams in the group stages of the National T20 Cup 2021 will be determined according to the following criteria:

  1. The team with the highest points at the end of the group stage will finish in the first position.
  2. If teams have an equal number of points, then the team with a higher net run rate will finish higher.
  3. If both the points and the net run rate are equal, the team with the highest number of wins in the group stage will finish higher.
  4. If the above criteria are equal as well, then the team with fewer losses will finish higher in the table.
  5. If all the criteria remain equal, then the result of the head-to-head between the two teams will determine the league position.

All the teams will face each other twice and the top four teams according to the National T20 Cup points table 2021 criteria at the end of group stage will move onto the knockout stage of the tournament.
