As we had anticipated, Mustafa Peracha has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of wi-tribe Pakistan, said a company statement issued just now.
Effective May 1, 2010 Mustafa will be responsible for overseeing wi-tribe Pakistan’s overall business activities as well as driving future growth of the company.
Mustafa brings with him vast experience and has held various executive management positions, most recent of which was Vice-President of the Broadband and Carrier Division at Mobilink, an Orascom Telecom Company, where he oversaw all fixed business with complete P&L responsibility was also instrumental in commercially driving the growth of the GSM business.
wi-tribe Group CEO, Sami Hinedi commented “We believe the appointment of Mustafa as our CEO at wi-tribe Pakistan further affirms our dedication to the telecom industry as well as our commitment to establishing local tribes in every market. We believe his experience and knowledge will help continue the success of our Pakistan operation.”
Expressing his views, Mustafa stated, “It is an exciting time for the telecom industry, and with more people across Pakistan understanding the benefits of WiMAX, we are confident of our services and hope to bring more value to the community.”
Having spent most of his career overseas, Mustafa gained diverse experience in telecommunication, automotive, strategy consulting and offshore services for major global industry leaders such as Gateway, Ernst & Young, and General Motors, among others. Mustafa holds an MBA degree from the University of Chicago with a major in Finance and Strategy along with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
Wimax does not have a business case in pakistan.
ARPUs are too low. Will not recover investment. That’s why Orascom stopped network expansion after the failure in karachi. Witribe’s failures continue.

He couldn’t help Infinity (Mobilink) and chances are that he will not contribute much to Wi-Tribe.
We will have another CEO at Wi-Tribe this time next year.
Honestly i have no idea what witribe is upto , the latest advancement is cutting down the salary of sales staff to 50% as witribe just realized they were paying a little too much (thats what they think) . One of the only company in the world which reduces the salary of staff as they spend more time . One more noticeable point is that cost cutting is only being applied to a single department while other departments are getting increments.
