wi-tribe Likely to Launch a New Service

wi-tribe-logoWe are told by inside sources that wi-tribe, the WiMAX service provider, is planning to launch a prepaid service called Pay’n Go.

We are yet to identify the complete details of the the upcoming offering, however, from the name it is safe to predict that company is planning to offer contract-less and short term WiMAX packages to its customers.

As said above, we are waiting for more details on this, so at this point of time comparing wi-tribe’s prepaid model with other operator’s will be little early.

This service will apparently serve as a trial to assess the true potential of the demand for prepaid broadband. In fact it is learnt that they have already enabled these services below the radar for a select group of customers.

We anticipate that service will be available to public in a week at most.

wi-tribe has been coming up with quite a few “first times” of late , so let’s see how they fare with pre-paid broadband, which some experts feel is the catalyst for the much awaited boom in the broadband industry.

  • Why don’t Wimax companies offer other services apart from the Internet? When Wateen was launched, they promise a triple-play service and promised that TV, Internet and Telephony will be provided through one single device. However, they started Internet and Telephony only and said that TV services will be provided later.

Witribe and Qubee didn’t even bother to provide Telephony and they both are providing Internet only. Wimax device has port for telephone connection and when I purchased it, Witribe official said that this port will be used when we will launch telephony services.
