Facebook Takes Down Controversial Page, Not Really [Updated]

In a recent development, it looks that Facebook has taken down the controversial page, which had caused protest from Muslim world, across the globe.

Yesterday evening page went down for a short span of time due to some glitch, which was latter fixed.

As anticipated, there are other pages already created with same aim, which they are calling back up pages.

Its quite long since the page hasn’t appeared back – so we may consider that Faecbook ultimately decided to remove the page. However, Facebook blog hasn’t published anything relating to the issue to officially confirm the removal of blasphemous page.

Update: CNN’s ireport confirms (though un-vetted story) that Facebook has withdrawn the page from its website.

Update 2: American news agency, AP confirms that blasphemous page has been removed from the Facebook, not by the Facebook administration but maybe the creator himself deleted the page.

Out Take: It is impossible to believe, as how come the creator deleted the page and then started a new page from Zero again. It is interesting to note that Facebook didn’t announce the removal of this page officially.

Update 3: No, it wasn’t facebook. They never deleted the page as they never announced it.

Here is the actually story; page was removed two days ago, after one of page admin had his email and skype hacked. His personal data was revealed. He then got scared and deleted the page. Following is what one of page admins said

A great big thank you to the facebook-gang for restoring the page. A great big thank you to all freedom lovers out there.

This page was removed two days ago, after one of our moderators had his email and skype hacked. His personal data was revealed. He then got scared and deleted the page, the blog and the emails.

  • Looks like the page is gone but as you said there are some backup pages and if Facebook announce it on their blog that they have removed the page because it was against TOS, people will point out to other similar pages. FB has no clear stance they are just hiding.

  • People should keep d bycot going for such … site, so that in future no one can think to support such material on their sites.

and btw it is due to huge protest which makes them understand (if this news is correct).

  • i am requesting to all of my friends that don’t use facebook forever in this way we can prove our power to them as earlier example of telenore

  • regardless if they’ve removed page on 20th or 21st. They wanted to gain publicity by hurting Muslim sentiments and they gained that mileage eventually! There were 35,000 objections raised on this page but facebook administration did nothing. This is a clear violation of facebook terms and facebook should be taken to court on breach of their own terms & conditions.

Getting banned in 2-4 countries out of 100+ countries across the globe will not effect facebook commercially infact they have gained much more publicity from this incident to cover their losses from these banning countries.

Best way to protest is that some Muslim NGO should take them to court and get facebook severe punishment including permanent shutdown. This is very important to safeguard such events happening again in internet social circle.

  • Good news for us and it shows us that if we are united we have the power to do any thing…

  • its nice 2 hear that but there is a possibility that they have just blocked the page in islamic countries

  • Even if they have removed that page, Muslim countries should keep blocking facebook and youtube for few months. This would be the best way to f**k their business and take revenge.

  • To all those who are complaining that the page was deleted on the 21st: it was 4pm in the USA at the time when it was deleted.

  • Its no use, taking down that page now!
The contest was on 20th May and its held already so taking down page now has somehow less worth.
    ..
    MY STANCE: NO FACEBOOK PLEASE!

  • I have made a commitment with myself not to use FaceBook in future. Let’s go together. Allah Ho Akbar.

  • Yes,the page was hacked for a while. But All of you must be aware,if any case you stop seeing the page, then it’ll be not because the page’s been removed but it is about to hide this page from many Muslims nations.
So don’t get so hopeful. And do delete your accounts at facebook forever.
If anybody is having problems acessing facebook contact me @ [email protected]

  • No facebook in Pakistan. We’ll strongly protest if the Govt. unblocks facebook.

  • Facebook Not Yet Takes Down Controversial Page
Facebook only block that page for Pakistan

  • 1.5 Million cases of corruption, fraud, theft, injustice, violation of rights are pending and all that matters to the “Islamic” court is fb! huh :O

  • Habib u shud be happy kay facebook down hogya :P tumhara page bhi to disabled hogya tha without any reason ;)

  • @Jahangir Brother u right mujhe khushi hovi hai k facebook ban hogiya Allah kary whole world mai ban hojaye par hamare Pakistani Shehzaade (Paki Leaders) Islam k boundaries cross karte hai kaash wo b ban hojate Pakistan mai kitna acha hota, go to Hell all Courts of Islamic Republic of Pakistan X-(

  • I have few questions to all of you Muslims:
What is face book? Is it necessary for our life? Can’t we breathe without it? Can’t we live without it? Can’t we live happy without it? Is it our duty to be a member in fact active member of FB? Can’t we use any other social network if it is really important for us to be a part of a social network on internet? Are we serving our country, religion, humanity or even a single person by using FB? Is it freedom of speech to draw pornographic images of someone’s father or beloved one? Can’t we use some other Islamic resources or forums to share Qurani verses, Hadis, Videos of Islamic Scholars?
And is it more important to be Muhammad (S.A.W.W) Lover or FB Lover? Could we ask for intercession on the Day of Judgment by our Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W)?
If we didn’t block FB, then what was the other ways to protest which effect (banning of 0.5% users of FB even didn’t affect total users of 400 million, but this could be much more if the whole Islamic world banned FB).
And I have just one answer to all these question Yes I can live without FB and I have deactivated my FB account forever. And I am also trying to follow my religion Islam more strictly.
May Allah Bless Us With The Strength of Faith. Aameen.
And also we need to get independent from these Non Muslims countries in technology, finance, business, AIDs, politics, decision making, education system, social life, media, and in every field of life. We need to be true Muslim and a devoted Pakistani. Aameen.

    • You know.. You are actually right. After reading your post, it got me thinking.. I used to live without FB and i’m pretty sure i can live without it now.. I deactivated my account.

Besides we have to show these people who mock our Prophet Muhammed(S.A.W) that our love for our creator and our Prophet is far greater than a mere social website.

  • I just wonder that why the LHC didn’t took any action against millions of people who are impersonating to be followers of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), but are actually proudly lying, bribing, violating rights…doing everything that Prophet (Peace be upon Him) has forbidden to do.

These hypocrites didn’t bothered when “one” of them actually lied to them, bribed them with 100 million grant and got elected again. Majority is not always right!

  • Everybody Draw Mohammed Day! Back.

    This page
was removed two days ago, after one of our moderators had his email and skype
hacked. His personal data was revealed. He then got scared and deleted the
page, the blog and the emails. The rest of us, are now back without him after
he backed out. This is another scare tactic from the Islamic
    extremists. We won’t fall.

  • The page is back on facebook:

Everybody Draw Mohammed Day! A great big thank you to the facebook-gang for restoring the page. A great big thank you to all freedom lovers out there.

Now we have new persons to handle the media and we will soon release some info about the past few days. And to all of you: One can never beat freedom of speech, opinion and idividuality, because they are all basic human rights.”

  • i want to ask to all …

Did you stop seeing there movies?
Did you stop listening to there songs?
Did you stop “IDEALIZING” them (mean you dress, speak and talk like there ‘so called’ heroes/heroins)?
Did you stop standing in long queues to get ‘VISA’ of those countries?
    Did you stop using there products (e.g. P&G,UNILEVER,Coca Cola,KFC,McDoland,. . . ) ?
Did you stop using ‘Credit Cards’ (as all money is from them and gone back to them with interest through J.P.Morgan INC,..) ?
Did you stop taking loan from IMF?
    ….

    ..
    .

if not then WHY are you bothering?

What do you think you done or achieve through Banning them?

Youtube is a great knowledge resource now it up to you how to extract knowledge from it…

Facebook is a huge community to seek more business and trade opportunity ask them who earn from it…

if you really want to do something … DO SOMETHING rather just sending rootless SMS and populating forums… make services like these (provide alternatives)

to run a website and manage, it take cost, and cost is very high (am i wrong aamir bhai?) till we are not able to manage resources we have to use there services, SIMPLY BLOCK these pages/videos/articles/blogs…

and in the end what they have done it “EXTREMELY WRONG” to take revenge from them STOP using there product (which we can avoid, you cant avoid using computers or do you?)

  • one thing more if you want to BAN, BAN all PRON SITES … dont make every thing a issue…

in the time of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) people make fun of HIM, Tried to kill HIM, tried to dis honor HIM but what HE did?

Is HE protest ? destroy HIS own property? No simply No … HE prayed to GOD and ask Mercy for them…

    what we are doing?

    • A very common line:b”If you want to do this, then do that as well. Otherwise no need to do this – as that is as important as this”

We end up without doing this and that ultimately…!
