Telenor to Expand its 3G Network to 32 Cities by September End

Telenor Pakistan has announced to expand its 3G footprint to 32 cities by end of September 2014. The announcement was made by Irfan Wahab Khan, Chief Marketing Officer, Telenor Pakistan today during a media roundtable here in Karachi.

During the fourth phase of commercial roll out, 3G services are being launched in:

  • Attock
  • Bahawalpur
  • Bannu
  • DI Khan
  • Jhelum
  • Kohat
  • Mardan
  • Muzaffargarh
  • Okara
  • Pakpattan
  • Sahiwal
  • Wah
  • Taxila
  • Entire Rawalpindi-Lahore G.T. Road.

Free trial of 3G services will be offered to Telenor Pakistan’s customers in these areas for two weeks. The subscribers will be notified about the end of free 3G trial service via SMS and Telenor Pakistan’s official website. Under the free 3G trial offer, customers can enjoy 50 MBs of free data every day. Data services on 2G will be charged as usual.

On this occasion, Irfan Wahab Khan, Chief Marketing Officer, Telenor Pakistan said, “With over 35 million customers, Telenor Pakistan is geared to serve its customer in the next wave of data growth. The fourth phase of commercial rollout of 3G services across the country has been initiated to add 13 more cities to our 3G network. Our 3G footprint, comprising both urban and rural areas, is yet another testament of our ambition to bring ‘Internet for All’. We strongly believe that internet is something for the mass population of Pakistan, and not just the select few.”

He further said that Telenor Pakistan has seen a healthy uptake in 3G customers in recent months and as a new growth area 3G is going to spur the device and applications eco-system in Pakistan, bringing in growth and economic opportunities.

“With Facebook, Whatapp, Twitter, Line and online classified etc spurring the growth, the average data volume usage of 3G customers is more than double the average data volume of 2G users,” Irfan added.

Hello , Can anyone post recent speed test of Telenor3G as I am planning to shift to Telenor3G or ZONG3G

    • qaisar

ha ha Good plain in past u said me Telenor 3g is not Good but its okay

      • Naveed

I still dont like Telenor3G but I was just thinking if they have improved or not.. but I am totally satisfied with Zong’s 3G as there coverage is good and the speed is awesome too :) just a thought to check if Telenor3G is good :P BTW i will wait a month more as I got a call from Warid that my 4G Sim will be delivered 3rd week of September ;) and will get a free trial of LTE ;)

        • test

No free trial it’s 500 PKR unlimited in testing.

          • Naveed

I asked the agent and he told me that it will be free

        • Muhammad Musa Raza

Bro telenor is best in miltan

          • Naveed

Wow , that is amazing . I never got that speed .. it was just 1Mbps when I just bought a new telenor sim.. and there services was pathetic when I last tried it.. So I guess its useless to switch to Telenor :)

            • Fakhre Alam

hahahaha why you asked if you have already made your decision?

              • Naveed

I thought it would improved as ZONG is improving day by day :P

      • Naveed

Yes I did.. I thought it would improve but I can see the reviews of the users and they are worse than before ! so i will stick to Warid ;) and ZONG :D

    • Muhammad Ashraf

speed can be between 2 to 5 Mbps,

    • Usman Ahmed

i shifted from warid to telenor and believe me it was a very bad experience. Telenor has so many issues in Lahore. Dont receive a lot of sms (they get lost somewhere), call connection has problems, 3g is only available in selected areas, activation of bundles takes more than a month……

      • Usman Ahmed

signal is very weak at a lot of places in lahore

    • Ahssan Khan

      Multan Gulgasht Colony

    • Waleed

Telenor 3G in Chichawatni recenlty launched as trial.. (weak signals) but still good..

  • Geekpk

Most poor 3g coverage is given by Ufone nowadays.

    • qaisar

oh sad i am ufone user:)

  • qaisar

what do you suggest which one is best?
    s5 or i6?

    • Fakhre Alam

      none. buy xiaomi mi4

  • Hassam

It’s a good step yet all companies are focusing on speed rather then coverage.

  • Guest

    Speed in sialkot

  • Muhammad Ibrahim

    Where is sukkur ?

    • Eli Ehsan

jub tak Qaim Ali shah rahega! 3G ka naam-o-nishaan nae aayega.. sindh main :(

    • Arsalan Shah

Sukkur, formerly Aror and Bakhar, is the third largest city of Sindh province, situated on the west bank of Indus River in Pakistan in Sukkur District.

      Coordinates: 27°41′N 68°52′E

In simple words, it is a city in Sindh, Pakistan.

      • Muhammad Ibrahim

میں پوچھ رہا تھا کہ سکھر اس لسٹ میں کیوں نہیں ہے۔

        • Arsalan Shah

          I know, I was being sarcastic :P

  • Zohaib

Pehlai Lahore to pura cover ker lo bhai, Bahria town main to coverage hai nahi.

  • Arslan Ejaz

full 3g coverage is not currently available in gujranwala.

  • ali

lahore pura kya nai ha, baki cities main ja rai hain. is sa achi covrage to zong ke ha,

  • test

Even in Lahore my home location do not have 3G of telenor and they are claiming 34 cities it’s all rubbish.

    • Fakhre Alam

all the “test” users are some company’s employee, now you are either of remaining four company’s employee, stop testing u idiot

      • test

Worst network is of Telenor, i not an employee of teleco but still think that Warid is the best operator

        • HH

          Agreed

        • Fakhre Alam

how about signing up on disqus? stop being a test tube baby

  • Muhammad Ashraf

The bad part is most cellular companies doesn;t give carpet 3g service, 3g service is still very limited in early roll out cities. Telcos must need to expand their service fully in exisiting cities

    • Abu Zaid

I agree. I live in Rawalpindi, and from what I have seen, it is unavailable only in half of the city. Even the covered parts are struggling with Coverage issues at time (especially if you are not near the Tower).

  • Guest

here you go bro speed test results of telenor 3g on 12 sep and 16 sep near commercial market rawalpindi !!! telenor is best !!!

    • Naveed

Check This ZONG’s Speed :) speed test done just now

  • Sikandar Butt

Please also focus on providing 3G services in these given cities to enhance the coverage area. I’m in Gujranwala and here 3G is available in very selective places. Why company isn’t increasing coverage area?
Here I want to mention that I have tried 3G services of Mobilink, Ufone and Telenor. Speed wise, Telenor is best so far. Coverage area wise Ufone wins.
Mobilink has the advantage of free trial.

  • Usman Ahmed

cant cover an entire city and just starting small area trials just for publicitiy

    • Usman Ahmed

three months and still half of lahore isnt covered

  • Hasnu

Telenor currently have very poor coverage in Karachi. I have been using Telenor since 2004, and when i advanced my package plan to 3G, em very much dissatisfied with the availability. Only Tariq Road and DHA has 3G services, rest of the Karachi still lying on EDGE (2.5G Network). For GOD sake Telenor if you don’t have to potential to cover the Giant City karachi, thinking of more cities would be worst…

  • Eli Ehsan

Still Nothing for Larkana! #BBHumSharmindaHain :(

    • Waqar Hassan

Kal bhi bhutto zinda tha, aj bhi bhutto zinda hai :p

      • Arsalan Shah

  • Ahmad

    off topic,

but where is warid 4G. it wasn’t expected in september ?

    • Naveed

It will be launched end of september :)

  • Yasir Mahmood

im in Rawalpindi ,Quite Beside the Airport Boundary Wall and Getting NO WCDMA Signals

  • Tàhír Mëhmõõd

Kya Azad Kashmir me 3g ayega hi nai??? :'(

  • HH

Telenor,s network quality becoming pathetic day by day, Warid is the best waiting for its LTE

    • Naveed

No doubt #Warid is best ;)

  • Zohaib Hassan

    Please ADD Khanewal City :(

  • Amir

I just switched to Mobilink and Telenor has come up with this super plan! :( Dear Mobilink, if you are reading this, please follow the same path of Telenor asap so that I don’t regret of switching my network.

    • Usman Ahmed

grass is always green on the other side. I shifted to Telenor from Warid solely for 3g and am regretting it big time. Warid has much better service than Telenor and to add to it, Telenor doesnt have full coverage in lahore.

  • Muhammad Ashraf

For karachi 3g users, zong is the only operator who has entirely covered Karachi

    • Arsalan Shah

Same for Islamabad & over 1/2 of Rawalpindi.

  • Mubashir

Please join zong 3g it has better coverage then telenor 3G. In short Telenor 3G is worst as compared to other operators at least in islamabad. I have already initiated port out request of my no from telenor. Telenor is more interested in spreading no of covered cities instead of improving its 3G service in existing cities!

  • monis

Telenor the worst network in Karachi.

  • Ibrahim

Sheikhupura main kb 2g i ga

  • Ibrahim

Sheikhupura main kb 3g i ga

  • Nisa Rabb

coverage map area in telenor website is showing only few cities

  • Uzair Ghani

Telenor logic: launch 3G in a city with no more than 30% coverage and add it to their list of covered cities.

Yesterday I was standing well within the 3G coverage area and guess what? Edge.

  • Noon

Yar if you have any issue regarding the operator service then why don’t you complain to PTA
