Arpatech Steps into Ecommerce Business with Jambo.pk

This is a sponsored story

Pakistan’s e-commerce industry is valued at $60 million, but with projections and forecast predicting the breach of the $1 billion threshold by 2020, e-retail is a growing sector. With this steep growth trajectory, many companies are unveiling new ventures and investing in this nascent industry in the hopes of capturing a sizeable market share and establish themselves to reap the rewards in future.

The increasing availability of 3G/4G internet, ever increasing broadband penetration, and increasing sales of smartphones have also led to accelerating digitization, with a rush among entrepreneurs across Pakistan to tap into the millions of new adopters.

Introducing Jambo.pk

Already among the leading players in e-commerce industry of Pakistan, Arpatech Technology Ventures (ATV) latest offering is Jambo.pk, soft launched late last year. Committed to enhancing the experience of online shopping in Pakistan, Jambo.pk aims to revolutionize the Pakistani ecommerce with its mission to ‘make online shopping a simple, easy, reliable, and fun.’

Currently in beta mode, Jambo.pk offers what every ecommerce website does – from phones and computers to men’s and women’s fashion along with groceries and gifts as well. Where it stands apart is its vast catalog and promise of stellar customer support. It also offers free shipping across Pakistan, and has already gotten orders from all across Pakistan, from Kasur and Mianwali to Abbottabad and Hyderabad. Furthermore, Jambo.pk uses Visa and Mastercard, cash on delivery (CoD) as well as swipe on delivery (in selected cities) as payment options along with a 7-day refund and a fair exchange policy. Whether it is online mobile shopping or buying the latest electrical appliance, Jambo.pk hopes to build a reputation for delivering where and when you desire.

First Impression

For its soft-launch, Jambo.pk had a 5,000 SKU-strong product catalog. Using their online and offline marketing outreach efforts, the company plans to improve and refine their future product catalog based on feedback by users. The ecommerce venture plans to have a baseline of 50,000 SKUs, bringing top brands and exclusive products under one umbrella, which they hope to achieve by next quarter.

The firm is hoping to use its combined web and mobile presence to roll out unique products, and is focusing on lining up high-quality items instead of low-end, mass-produced offerings that are all too common in some local e-commerce stores.

With its user friendly interface and easy to navigate categories, combined with multi-colored themes, Jambo.pk hopes to make online shopping experience a fun experience. With a dedicated mobile app on both the iOS and Android platforms, Jambo.pk is already jostling with the e-retail’s big boys and established ventures in terms of omni-channel presence.

Future Prospects

The next major event for Jambo.pk is its launch, fast closing in on its target of 25,000 SKUs, scheduled for April 2016. It’s important to mention that trust is a very important factor when it comes to online shopping. Arpatech is a well-established brand and their promise to provide stellar customer support is one that should be taken seriously. Having some heavyweights behind the venture will also help Jambo.pk be competitive when it comes to pricing.

Outlining the vision behind the new venture, Project Manager Farhan Ismail said: “We are collaborating with several leading brands to launch their products through our platform. The idea is to reach a point where Jambo.pk becomes the platform of choice for every new product and brand being introduced into the market. Obviously, that will complement our exceptional customer service standards where Jambo.pk provides benchmarks for Pakistan’s ecommerce industry.

Arpatech-Backed Venture

Jambo.pk’s tagline, ‘shopping made fun,’ seems hopeful enough. With the backing of a trusted name in ATV, it won’t surprise anyone to see Jambo.pk succeeding in Pakistan’s online shopping space. Arpatech’s portfolio is varied and includes other big names on Pakistan’s startup scene including TazaMart – the online grocery shopping store, Sheops – an online marketplace exclusively for women, TripKar – the travel advisory and online booking service, and Investors Lounge – a financial technology startup. Armed with all the tools it needs to succeed and partnered with an established logistics partner in Forrun, another from the ATV stables, it’ll be interesting to see how this new entrant makes it in the fast developing e-commerce industry in Pakistan.
