The onslaught of smart home products from Xiaomi continues. This time the company has launched a smart home camera which comes with an AI assistant onboard.
Falling under the Mijia sub-brand of Xiaomi, the AI camera looks a lot like the security camera launched last year.
However, the new AI camera has more features and better video quality.
Design-wise it looks quite similar to a webcam or a small security camera with a smart speaker attached to it.
It can record in up to 1080p resolution (in H.265 or HEVC encoding format for small file size) and supports pan-tilt and zoom with a 360-degree viewing angle.
Housed inside the camera is a 1/2.7” CMOS sensor with a 3um pixel size as well as an Ambarella S3LM IP chipset. There are dual microphones on it too with noise cancellation.
The Smart AI camera also works at night thanks to 940nm IR lamps in night mode. What’s special about these IR lamps is that they don’t emit a visible red light when recording at night (unlike other night vision cameras) so if a thief or an intruder comes in, they won’t notice the camera recording them.
Last but not the least is Xiaomi’s AI assistant, which lets you give voice commands to the camera for taking photos or recording a voice message. What’s more, it can also control other Xiaomi smart home products like smart bulbs, plugs, TV, vacuum cleaner etc.
Also, it can stream music or audiobooks from multiple sources to keep you entertained.
Price and Availability in Pakistan
The Smart AI Camera is available on Youpin store in China for ¥ 399 (~Rs. 7,150). Like the other smart home products, this one is also highly likely to arrive in Pakistan in the next month or two.
We’ll update you as soon as it launches in Pakistan.
