Black Shark 2 is Xiaomi’s Real Flagship With Quality Display & Cameras

Xiaomi’s newest iteration of their ultimate gaming phone has hit the market with all you could want in a smartphone. With a 6.39-inch display and notable upgrades as compared to its predecessor, Black Shark 2 aims to provide the best gaming experience.

It has flagship worthy specifications at a reasonable price. Xiaomi tends to target all the gamers out there with this high-performance smartphone.

Design and Display

The design of this phone is similar to a typical gaming phone, a little chunky with numerous angular designs printed on the back with a jet-black color. However, another variant can also be purchased in an exclusive frozen silver color. Gladly, there’s no notch on the phone so it is one of the best looking gaming phones when you look at it from the front.

It comes with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display manufactured by Samsung with Full HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) resolution, 403 ppi pixel density and a 19:5:9 aspect ratio. New display tech allows for low latency (43ms) and pressure sensitivity. The phone has pressure sensitive buttons on top and bottom which can be used and triggered while playing or using the phone in landscape mode.

With an HDR enabled display and DCI P3 color space, the screen quality is emphasized and true colors are maintained. The brightness offered is 430 nits.

The fingerprint reader is installed inside the display. Apart from this, it features two front-facing speakers.

Internals and Storage

The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 which is not a surprise since it is supposed to have high-end processing abilities. The processor is Octa-core (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 485 & 3×2.41 GHz Kryo 485 & 4×1.78 GHz Kryo 485) and the GPU is Adreno 640. It comes in two variants; the main variant has 6 GB RAM with 128 GB in-built memory and the second variant comes with an impressive 12 GB RAM and 256 GB in-built memory.

It is also equipped with an extensive cooling system. Xiaomi calls it Vapor Chamber 3.0 which promises at least 14 degrees lower temperature. On top of that, if you use a fan cooling mode, it can lower the temperature by another 5 degrees. The software used is Android 9.0 Pie.

Cameras

On the rear is a dual camera setup with a 48 Megapixel main sensor and 12 Megapixel secondary sensor. The secondary sensor is telephoto.

The selfie camera is a single sensor 20 Megapixel camera.

Battery and Pricing

This gaming phone comes with an impressive 4000 mAh battery with 27W fast charging, same as the Mi 9.

The phone is only launched in China as of now, and costs CNY 3200 (~Rs. 66,700) for the regular version and CNY 4200 (~Rs. 87,650)  for the 12GB RAM variant.
