Nadeem Omar, the owner of Quetta Gladiators, has doubled the prize money for the champions of the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL 4).
Omar made this announcement on Wednesday. In an interview with a local daily, he said it was their tradition to double the prize money after winning every tournament, and he did not want to break it.
“We double the amount of prize money upon winning the tournament, and we will double the amount of prize money for the team.”
Omar said, it was captain Sarfraz Ahmed who persuaded him to continue with the tradition, and he acknowledged.
“Our players put in a lot of efforts for us and this is the least we can do for them. Captain Sarfaraz also played a key role in making us take this step.”
Note that the prize money for the winners of PSL 4 was $1 million – doubling it means that now $2 million will be distributed among the Gladiators.
During the interview, Omar said the people of Balochistan had the first right on the trophy; thus the celebrations will kick off from Quetta.
He divulged that the Chief Minister of Balochistan has also promised cash prizes for the winning team.
It should be mentioned here that Quetta Gladiators had outplayed Peshawar Zalmi in the final to lift the title for the first time on March 17.
