People in KP Will be Able to Use Their CNIC As Sehat Sahulat Card

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has decided to use Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) as a Sehat Sahulat Card. The decision was taken during a meeting led by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Tuesday.

The decision will be applicable to the newly merged tribal districts; CM Khan said while speaking at the occasion. He said the facility will allow every family to get free treatment for more than seven hundred thousand rupees every year.

Terming this development a historical step, Chief Minister emphasized that the provision of free medical treatment to the public was one of the primary duties of the government.

He said that the provision of Sehat Cards will prove to be a stepping stone towards the establishment of a real welfare state.

80 Million People to Get Sehat Insaf Card

The Sehat Insaf Card, launched on February 4 by Prime Minister Imran Khan, entitles the holders to get free treatment in any hospital across the country. The card will bear the medical expenses of up to Rs. 720,000 per annum.

The government has targeted to expand the facility to as many as 80 million people in the first phase. The scheme will be further expanded in the months to come.

So far, at least half of the population in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been provided with Sehat Cards. In March this year, the provincial government had also announced to award the medical facility to the trans-community.
