Xiaomi Reveals Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 With Intel Core i9 and RTX 2060

It’s not every day you see a new gaming laptop from Xiaomi. The Beijing-based phone maker has launched the Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 at competitive prices.

The Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 is a successor of last year’s edition which was unveiled back in March 2018. It brings significant upgrades in specifications but is identical to the previous model in design.

Display

The laptop has a 15.6-inch screen with Full HD resolution and a refresh rate of 144hz. The display covers 72% of the NTSC color gamut, has wide 178-degree viewing angles, and go up to 300 nits in brightness.

It features the exact same keyboard layout and bezels around the screen, but the black color on the laptop is a little deeper compared to last year.

Hardware and Connectivity

The biggest change in this year’s edition is under the hood. It now has Intel’s 9th Gen Core i5 and i7 processors, depending on which variant you choose. The top-end model has the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 GPU, whereas the other variants come with a Geforce GTX 1660 Ti.

Xiaomi didn’t skimp on the ports and has included 4 USB 3.0 Type-A ports, 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks, HDMI output, one Ethernet port and a 3 in 1 card reader.

There are heat vents on both sides to improve heat dissipation. Xiaomi claims that the laptop’s thermal management system improves cooling efficiency by at least 60%. It makes use of large diameter heat pipes with an S-shaped turbine with metal blades that help cool the laptop faster.

Battery and Price

The gaming notebook comes with a 55Wh power cell that should be enough for 4 hours of video playback and web browsing on a single charge.

The high-end model will cost you $1297 and is the only one available for pre-orders. The mid-specced variant and the base model are priced at $1239 and $1080 respectively.

There’s no info on when the Mi Gaming Laptops will go on sale
