Possible Snapdragon 865 Benchmark Shows Insane Results

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855+ is barely a month old and we’re already hearing rumors of a new chip beating out the best in the smartphone world.

Codenamed Qualcomm Kona, the new chip is probably going to be the Snapdragon 865. It will feature on 2020 flagship phones as Qualcomm usually launches its high-end chipsets at the end of the year.

The mysterious chip managed to score 12,915 in the multi-core test at Geekbench, beating out every other smartphone in the world.

The device being used to test the SD865 is running Android Q and has 6 GB RAM, however, it’s most likely a test platform and not a real smartphone. While the base frequency is 1.8 GHz, the device is likely capable of reaching 3 GHz.

Presently, Qualcomm is right on the edge of 3 GHz as the Snapdragon 855+  reaches 2.96 GHz speeds for its prime core, meaning that the next-gen CPU crossing 3 GHz is probable.

Qualcomm is likely going to run more tests on the new chip before they unveil it in Hawaii, USA. The chipmaker usually conducts its annual developer meeting there and that’s where they normally announce new chips as well.

  • Over 23% improvement on single core and over 21% on multi core over the 855 is pretty dope, if the figures are correct.

Might get up to 25% improvement with finalised drivers.
