Xiaomi Redmi 8A Leak Reveals a Massive 5,000 mAh Battery

Two days ago, a Redmi smartphone appeared on TENAA under the model number M1908C3IC. The full listing for that phone has now been published, revealing impressive specifications and the biggest battery on a Redmi phone we’ve seen so far.

Early rumors suggested that the smartphone could be the upcoming Redmi 8 while more recent leaks suggest that it might be Redmi 8A.

Since Redmi 7A went on sale in June, we are pretty skeptical about this one. Anyway, here’s what the TENAA listing shows about the Redmi 8A.

Specifications Listed on TENAA

The device features a 6.2-inch display with a front camera housed in the waterdrop notch. The smartphone will have 2GB, 3GB, or 4GB of RAM accompanied by 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of storage. The memory will be expandable via a dedicated SD card slot.

The image published on TENAA shows a dual-sensor rear camera which, according to the listings, will feature a 12 MP main sensor and an unknown secondary sensor. On the selfie front, the smartphone will feature an 8 MP camera. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the back.

The smartphone features a huge 5000 mAh battery and runs on Android 9.0 Pie. According to 3C certifications, it only has 5V/2A charging but based on TENAA’s listings, the smartphone does support fast charging. It will be available in Black, Red, Blue, Pink, White, Green, Purple, and Gray.

Leaks

A set of live photos was recently leaked for a Redmi phone under the model number M1908C3IH, a variant of the above mentioned TENAA listing. The leak claims this smartphone is Redmi 8A.

Based on the images the smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 439 topped with 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage. On the software front, it has EMUI 9.7 flavored Android 9.0 Pie.

The phone is codenamed ‘Olive’ and has a 5000 mAh battery as shown in the last screenshot. Design-wise, it will have a waterdrop notch display and a glossy finish on the back with a fingerprint sensor and dual-sensor rear camera aligned vertically in the center.

As far as the name is concerned, only time will tell whether this is a Redmi 8 or Redmi 8A.
