PCB Imposes Fine on Players Failing Their Fitness Tests

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stepped up its efforts to ensure that all players are well-conditioned for the upcoming tours.

In light of that, the board has decided to deduct a 15% salary of players who will fail their fitness tests.

The PCB, in a press conference, informed:

A player failing to meet the minimum fitness requirements will be fined 15 per cent of his monthly retainer, which will remain effective until he achieves the standards. Player failing consecutive tests will risk the chances of retaining his central contract category and may face demotion.

Previously, Imad Wasim, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, and Abid Ali all failed their fitness tests. It remains to be seen if these players have improved or not.

The fitness tests of all the centrally conducted players will be conducted on 6th and 7th January at National Cricket Academy (NCA) Lahore.

It is worth mentioning that Mohammad Amir, Shadab Khan, and Wahab Riaz won’t be present to take the tests due to their commitment to respective teams in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The three unavailable players will undergo tests on 20th and 21st January instead.

Strength and conditioning coach Yasir Malik will supervise the tests.

The following are the categories of the players under PCB central contracts:

  • Category C – Abid Ali, Hasan Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan, Shan Masood, Usman Shinwari and Wahab Riaz
