Coronavirus: Suspicious Passengers at Airports to be Kept in Isolation for 15 Days

The government of Punjab has decided to screen every incoming passenger from China or any Corona-hit country at the airports.

The decision was made in a high-level meeting on Wednesday chaired by the Chief Secretary Punjab, Major (r) Azam Suleman Khan.

It was decided that those under suspicion of the deadly virus will be kept in isolation rooms for at least 15 days.

The meeting was attended by the additional chief secretary, administrative secretaries of different departments, and Lahore division commissioner. The commissioners and deputy commissioners of other divisions and districts joined the meeting via video link.

The chief secretary directed the Health Department to delegate at least two of its officials at the airport to assist the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) with the screening of the passengers. He also directed them to isolate the suspected passengers.

Suggesting that the Punjab Health Department should join the federal one in mock exercises at the airports, the Chief Secretary said that all provinces should strictly follow the SOPs issued by the federal government in this regard.
