Smartphone patents always have unique designs and form factors for future devices and the latest one from Xiaomi is no different. A new patent shows that the Chinese brand may be working on a bezel-less phone with angled pop-up cameras.

Companies are looking at different ways to make a phone’s screen completely bezel-less. This is currently done with the help of pop-up front cameras and Xiaomi might have a new way to implement it. The new patent shows a Xiaomi device with pop-up cameras that can work as both the front and back cameras. Renders for this patent were created by LetsGoDigital.

The device shown in the images has a flat full-screen display with no cameras visible on the front and back. This is because the motorized pop-up modules have cameras on both sides, meaning that the phone has four cameras in total, two for the front, and two for the back. The LED flash unit can be seen on the back panel at the top. The phone also has stereo speakers and a USB C port at the bottom.
Xiaomi already has a handful of devices with pop-up cameras in its Mi lineup as well as some of its Redmi phones. It will be interesting to see how this new technology is implemented in a future Xiaomi phone, but we recommend taking this information with a pinch of salt as it is only a patent.
