Head Coach Karachi Kings Dean Jones Passes Away in India

Former Australian cricketer, coach, and commentator, Dean Jones, has passed away at the age of 59 after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Jones had been commentating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, being played in the UAE, as part of the Star Sports commentary team from a hotel in Mumbai. Karachi Kings had also appointed Jones after replacing Mickey Arthur as their head coach in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 5.

Born on 24 March 1961 in Melbourne, Jones made his Test debut against West Indies on 16 March 1984 and ODI debut against Pakistan on 30 January 1984.

Jones had featured for Australia in 52 Test matches and scored 3631 runs averaging 46.55. He had also played 164 ODIs and scored 6068 runs averaging 44.41.

He had last represented Australia in Test matches in 1992 and ODIs in 1994.

After retiring from the game, Jones became a commentator and continued till his death.

Jones had coached Islamabad United in the first four editions of the PSL as well, lifting the title in the inaugural and third edition of the tournament.
