Pakistan cricket team’s head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq, who is also associated with the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) as a coach, has been asked to relinquish one of his posts.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Ehsan Mani, told this to news reporters following the National Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meeting in Islamabad.
Mani said he has asked Misbah to keep one of the jobs giving him the option to either stay with his department or work for the board.
Misbah has to pick one job as you can’t draw salaries from both. All those having jobs with departments and also getting salaries from the PCB will have to pick one. There will be no exception for anyone including Misbah.
The Chairman also confirmed taking disciplinary action against Misbah and Test captain, Azhar Ali, for meeting Prime Minister Imran Khan without the board’s permission.
Yes, that was like crossing the line. The matter has already been referred to the disciplinary committee and action will be taken.
Mani revealed that West Indies were paid thousands of dollars to visit Pakistan during the previous regime.
Since I took over I have made sure that the international cricket returns to Pakistan in real terms. Now international teams are regular to Pakistan and that is a big achievement.
No single penny has been paid to any team which visited Pakistan, Mani said, mentioning Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and MCC. He noted that the Zimbabwe team will soon arrive in Pakistan for limited-overs series.
