Pakistan & India to Finally Resume Bilateral Cricket Series: Reports

Arch-rivals Pakistan and India may resume bilateral cricket ties this year, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) given the nod by the higherups that a series could be arranged in late 2021.

According to an unnamed PCB official, the board has been directed to “be prepared” in case a neutral cross-border exchange permits both countries to meet on the pitch, after nearly a decade of bilateral series being suspended amidst rising political tensions.

Adding fuel to the flare, reports regarding a possible bilateral series between the two countries made a few rounds on Indian media as well.

If this happens, the series is expected to take place sometime during the second half of 2021. To that effect, PCB Chairman, Ehsan Mani, made some interesting remarks prior to the development. In his purview, “Pakistan has to host the Asia Cup in 2023. India’s participation in the tournament will be a big breakthrough for Pakistan cricket”.

The political situation will perhaps help make the final decision. There’s internal instability across both borders, and a friendly encounter on a cricket pitch might just make things a little bit more bearable for most.
