Haris Sohail Out of England Series With Yet Another Injury

Pakistan’s middle-order batsman, Haris Sohail, has been ruled out of the tour of England after suffering yet another injury. Sohail has suffered a grade three tear in his hamstring which he picked up during the team’s training session prior to the start of the ODI series.

The 32-year old will travel back to Pakistan where he will undergo a four-week rehabilitation program at the National High-Performance Center (NHPC) in Lahore. Further tests and reassessments will be carried out after the conclusion of his program.

Sohail expressed his disappointment after being ruled out of the highly anticipated ODI series.

“I was keenly looking forward to the ODIs as part of my objective to contribute to the side’s success and also cement my position in the side. In this background, I am disappointed that my tour has been cut short, but I will return to Lahore and undergo a rehabilitation program so that I can fully recover for the 2021-22 season,” he stated.

The stylish batsman is considered one of the finest limited-overs middle-order batsmen in the country but he has had a history of fitness problems which has hampered his international career. Despite making his international debut in 2013, Sohail has only featured in 42 ODIs, 16 Tests, and 14 T20Is for Pakistan.

The first ODI between Pakistan and England is scheduled to commence later today at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, Wales in front of a 50% crowd capacity. The three-match ODI series will be followed up by a three-match T20I series, scheduled to begin from 16 July.
