Former England captain, Michael Vaughan, believes that star batsman, Babar Azam, is Pakistan’s most important player. Vaughan was asked to pick between Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan as Pakistan’s most important player during an interview with CricTracker.

Vaughan said that although Rizwan is a great player and he likes the way the wicket-keeper batsman plays, Babar Azam is just class above everybody else. Vaughan added that Babar’s technique, temperament, and shot selection make him one of the best batsmen globally and certainly the most important player for the Men in Green.
The 46-year old said that Babar has a gift of making batting look very easy and his cover drive is a joy to watch for any cricket fan. He added that Babar has a great balance and a great mindset, which has helped him become the world’s number one ODI batsman.
Vaughan also heaped praise on Mohammad Rizwan. He said that he loves the attitude of Rizwan on the field as he is always aggressive and puts the opposition under pressure.

Babar and Rizwan have been Pakistan’s most reliable batsmen over the past few months and showcased their class in the third ODI against England. The duo put on a 179 run stand and registered the highest partnership for any wicket in ODIs for Pakistan against England. Despite their heroics, Pakistani bowlers were unable to defend a target of 332 and lost the series 3-0.
Babar and Rizwan are expected to open the batting in the upcoming T20I series against England, scheduled to start on 16 July (today). The duo will be hoping to continue their great run of form and help Pakistan register their first victory on the tour.
