2024 Paris Olympics Breaks Record with 8.6 Million in Ticket Sales

The 2024 Paris Olympics have set a new benchmark by selling 8.6 million tickets, surpassing the previous record of 8.3 million tickets held by the 1996 Atlanta Games. This monumental achievement was confirmed by the 2024 Paris Olympics organizer Tony Estanguet on Thursday.

“It’s a record held by the 1996 Atlanta Games of 8.3 million tickets, and we’ve already passed that total some time ago,” Estanguet told AFP. “We are at 8.6 million tickets for the Olympics, and over one million for the Paralympics,” he reported.

The Paris organizers are optimistic that the total number of attendees will climb to 10 million for the Olympics, which will take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024. Additionally, they expect another 3.4 million attendees for the Paralympics, scheduled from 28 August to 8 September.

In the final stretch leading up to the Games, Estanguet announced that more tickets for various sports are being made available. “The good news is that in this final stretch we are making available many tickets for lots of sports,” Estanguet said. “There are lots of really good options at different prices both for the Olympics, Paralympics, and opening and closing ceremonies.”

Expressing pride in the record-breaking sales, Estanguet added, “We are proud to have already beaten the record, but we can still do even better.”
