Data Reveals Highest Birth Rate Despite High Number of Unmarried Pakistanis

According to the 7th Population and Housing Census 2023, released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), 29.75% of the country’s population is unmarried.

The results revealed several intriguing details about Pakistan’s demographic profile. The country has recorded the highest population growth rate in the region and globally, with its total population surpassing 241 million (241,499,431).

This represents a growth rate of 2.55% from 207,684,626 in 2017. According to the report, the average family size in Pakistan is 6.30. There are concerns that if the current growth rate continues unchecked, Pakistan’s population could double by 2050.

The report revealed that 29.75% of the population is unmarried, while 65.97% are married. The report states that widows comprise 3.78% of the total population, while 0.35% are divorced and 0.15% have chosen separation.

It further revealed that 79% of the population is under 40 years old, with 40.56% being below 15 years of age. Moreover, 26% of the population falls within the 15 to 29-year age range.
