The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to launch a comprehensive talent hunt by holding open trials for women cricketers across the country, starting from August 5. This initiative aims to unearth talent at the grassroots level, marking the first-ever open trials in the picturesque Sost Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, known for its passionate cricket community.
The trials will be conducted in two phases. The first phase is scheduled from August 5 to 7 in Gilgit, Hunza, and Sost. The second phase will commence on August 21 and will run until September 3. In case of rainy weather, trials in the respective cities will be rescheduled to September 4 and 5.
Former international cricketers Asad Shafiq and Batool Fatima, members of the women’s national selection committee, will oversee the trials. The trials will cater to two categories: U19 and emerging players. Players born on or after September 1, 2005, will be eligible for the U19 trials.
“In the second phase, players can register themselves for the trials by filling out an online form, which will be available in due course. The players will be required to bring their filled forms along with both original and copies of their Birth certificates/B-forms/CNIC to the trials. For the convenience of players, they can also register at the ground,” the PCB stated in a press release.
