Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is facing a challenging situation regarding the venue for the PSL 10 playoffs and final. Initially, England was considered the primary venue to host these matches.
However, franchise owners, already anxious about potential costs, were informed that an official would be dispatched to England to evaluate the feasibility.
Recent reports, however, reveal that England has declined the request to host, citing the unavailability of their cricket grounds as the main reason.
In light of this setback, some PCB officials are now proposing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as an alternative venue. However, the extreme heat in May presents a significant obstacle for holding matches there.
The proposed dates for PSL 10 span from April 10 to May 25, coinciding with the Indian Premier League (IPL). This overlap has sparked concerns among franchises that key foreign players might opt for the IPL over the PSL, potentially weakening their teams.
Adding to the franchises’ concerns, they have previously communicated with the PCB about profit shares from the ninth edition and other pressing issues, yet they have not received any response.
In a recent phone conversation, a senior PCB official assured the franchise owners that a governing council meeting would be convened soon to address their grievances.
As the PCB scrambles to find a suitable venue and address the franchises’ concerns, the pressure mounts to ensure that PSL 10 playoffs can be he hosted outside of Pakistan for global reach and proceeds smoothly next year.
