All You Need To Know About Arshad Nadeem’s Olympic Javelin Final

Pakistan’s javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, will compete in the Paris Olympics 2024 final of the men’s Javelin Throw medal round on Thursday.

He is set to participate alongside India’s Neeraj Chopra, with both athletes qualifying from Group B with stellar performances by the Olympics organizers.

The event kicks off at 11:25 pm Pakistan Standard Time (PST), with Nadeem scheduled to throw fifth. Group B also includes notable athletes like Anderson Peters, ranked sixth in the world, and Brazils Luiz Mauricio Da Silva.

To secure a spot in the final round, an athlete must achieve a minimum throw of 84 meters which Arshad Nadeem surpassed easily as he recorded a throw of 86.59 meters.

The top 12 athletes have advanced to the final, and five out of six throwers in group B qualified directly to the final round while 4 out of 6 athletes reached the 84-meter mark and qualified directly.

Arshad Nadeem is seen as Pakistan’s best hope, having won a silver medal at the World Championships in 2023 and at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He also made history by winning a gold medal and becoming the first Pakistani athlete to achieve this feat since 1962.

The last Olympic medal for Pakistan was won in 1992 in Barcelona, where the country secured bronze in field hockey.

It should be noted that the 7 contingents sent by Pakistan for the Olympics have failed to qualify for the final round of their respective sports.
