Jaker Ali and Saif Hasan have put themselves firmly in the spotlight with commanding centuries on the third day of the second four-day match between Bangladesh ‘A’ and Pakistan Shaheens at Islamabad Club.
After a delayed start due to rain and a damp outfield, Bangladesh ‘A’ ended the day at a formidable 346 for six in 98 overs, recovering from a shaky 77 for four earlier in the day.
The turning point came with a remarkable 131-run stand between Jaker and Saif, who demonstrated resilience and finesse at the crease. Saif Hasan’s knock was a masterclass in patience, as he accumulated 111 runs from 221 deliveries, featuring 13 boundaries and four towering sixes. His innings, however, was cut short by Mehran Mumtaz, leaving Bangladesh ‘A’ with a solid foundation.
Jaker Ali, batting at No.6, was the day’s hero, compiling an unbeaten 136 off 244 balls. His innings, laced with 14 fours and four sixes, was a study in perseverance, anchoring Bangladesh ‘A’ as they declared at 404 for nine after 112.2 overs on the final day.
For Pakistan Shaheens, Abrar Ahmed stood out with the ball, claiming four wickets for 103 runs. Ghulam Mudassir and Mehran Mumtaz supported with two wickets apiece, but the hosts found it difficult to contain the visitors after their initial breakthroughs.
As Bangladesh ‘A’ declared with 80 overs remaining, the stage is set for a gripping final session in this rain-marred encounter.
