A ban has been imposed on officers and personnel hitching rides on highways, including Ring Road, GT Road, and Motorways.
According to a directive, any officers or personnel caught stopping vehicles to request lifts on these roads will face suspension.
This directive was issued by the DIG Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP), noting that officers and personnel are frequently seen stopping vehicles to catch a ride on these highways.
The directive also emphasizes that strict departmental action will be taken against anyone found violating this rule in the future.

This is a good move. To be waved down by a police officer or motorway police only to be asked to take them somewhere is completely ridiculous. Happens quite often, especially at toll plazas.
I think its a good action as you never know if the person in Uniform is real or not and also if the stopping is legitimate or not.
