Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has refused to grant No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to national players selected for the upcoming Zim Afro T10 League, citing the tournament’s lack of approval from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
According to reports, the PCB stated that no cricketer from Pakistan would be allowed to participate in the tournament without formal ICC endorsement.
This decision to refuse the NOC has impacted several key players, including Shahnawaz Dahani, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Irfan, Sharjeel Khan, and Salman Arshad, all of whom had been lined up to play in the league.
Moreover, Dahani, Asif, and Haider are already committed to competing in Pakistan’s domestic Champions One-Day Cup, further limiting their availability for the Zimbabwe-based tournament.
In response, a spokesperson for the Zim Afro T10 League argued that ICC approval isn’t necessary, noting that the event has been sanctioned by the Zimbabwe Cricket Board, a full member of the ICC.
The league has already signed global icons and is preparing for the draft on September 8. Each of the six teams will have 15-member squads, with the possibility of an additional global icon player, and will feature up to six Zimbabwean cricketers.
The T10 league tournament is scheduled to take place from September 21 to 29 in Harare.
