Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo opted for the French striker Kylian Mbappe during an interview where he expressed his fondness for the current Real Madrid talisman.
In a recent episode of Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, Cristiano Ronaldo chose French forward Kylian Mbappe over his former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema in a high-profile player comparison.
At 39, Ronaldo displayed his characteristic decisiveness when asked to name the superior player between Mbappe and Benzema.
The Al-Nassr captain, who has shared the pitch with both players, didn’t hesitate to select the 25-year-old French star, reflecting the growing prominence of Mbappe in international football.
Ronaldo’s choice underscores the impressive trajectory of Mbappe, who has now surpassed Benzema’s international goal tally with 48 goals compared to Benzema’s 37 for France.
This selection came as Ronaldo, the only player to exceed 900 career goals, previously named Lionel Messi as the greatest player he had seen, although he was reluctant to concede that Messi was definitively better than himself.
Morgan, a TV presenter and journalist, recounted Ronaldo’s respectful comments about Messi and noted, “He was incredibly respectful about Messi and said, ‘Messi is the best player, but you’re asking the wrong question.'”
Ronaldo’s praise for Mbappe has sparked curiosity about the French forward’s potential to achieve even greater success.
Despite his advancing age, Ronaldo remains committed to international football, holding records for the most caps and goals in men’s internationals with 131 goals in 213 appearances.
