Former Professional boxer Amir “King” Khan has stoked the flames on a purported rumour of him returning to the ring in a bout against Filipino Legend Manny Pacquaio.
Khan is known for a stellar boxing career where he held unified light-welterweight world championships between 2009 and 2012, including the WBA and IBF titles amassing a magnificent 34-6 record.
His potentially illustrious opponent is no slouch either, with Manny Pacquiao widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, with “PacMan” being the only boxer in history to be an eight division world champion. Reportedly, talks of the fight had been ongoing in secret.
Khan took to social media site X recently, tagging Saudi Minister and Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority Turki Al-AlShikh claiming he is “the only man who can make this happen”.
If all plans fall into place, this will be yet another feather in the cap of Saudi boxing, who have come leaps and bounds in terms of hosting superfights. Recently, Saudi Arabia has hosted major fights such as Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury for the WBC Heavyweight championship under the Riyadh Season banner, and will host a sequel fight in December this year as well.
