The International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation, currently visiting Pakistan, has expressed satisfaction with the preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Karachi and Rawalpindi are set to host the prestigious event, and the delegation’s visit underscores the importance of ensuring everything is on track.
In a meeting with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad, the ICC delegation received assurances about the timely completion of stadium upgrades and robust security measures.
The PCB is keen to demonstrate its capability to host an international event of this magnitude, and the ICC’s positive feedback is a significant boost.
The final venue inspection is scheduled for Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the last on the ICC’s list. A five-member team will arrive in Lahore today, with plans to rest before conducting a thorough review on Saturday, September 21st.
The PCB has organized a detailed briefing to showcase the ongoing upgrades designated for practice sessions, including improvements at the LCCA ground.
The historic Bagh-e-Jinnah ground is also being considered as an alternative practice venue. Security remains a top priority, and meetings are planned to discuss protocols. Following their comprehensive assessment, the delegation is expected to return to Dubai on Saturday night.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the ICC’s satisfaction with security arrangements in Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad.
He assured stakeholders that preparations are on track, with stadium upgrades nearing completion. Naqvi emphasized that the tournament offers a safe and enjoyable environment for players and fans, promising a memorable experience in this cricket-loving nation.
The ICC delegation, led by Senior Manager of Events Sarah Edgar, also discussed accommodation and logistical planning, ensuring all aspects of the tournament are meticulously organized.
