The Sindh government has announced plans to auction premium vehicle number plates to raise funds for flood relief efforts in the province. The auction is scheduled for October 12 in Karachi.
All proceeds from the auction will be allocated towards housing projects for those affected by the devastating floods that swept through Sindh earlier this year. The government hopes to raise a significant amount of money to help rebuild communities and provide shelter to displaced families.
Interested individuals can register for the auction online on the official website of the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department, Government of Sindh: www.premiumnumber.excise.gos.pk. Registration is open until the day of the auction.
The auction will feature a wide range of premium number plates, including combinations that are considered lucky or desirable in Pakistani culture. These plates often sell for significantly higher prices than standard numbers.
The Sindh government has previously held successful premium number plate auctions, with proceeds used for various development projects.
Back in June, the government held its first auction of premium number plates at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Karachi, where plates were offered in three categories: platinum, gold, and silver.
The top-tier platinum plates, featuring three characters, had a starting bid of Rs. 2 million. The gold category offered plates with up to five characters, starting at Rs. 1 million, while the silver category, aimed at budget-conscious buyers, began at Rs. 50,000.
This latest auction is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to address the challenges faced by the province, particularly in the aftermath of the floods.
