Wedding Halls and Restaurants Sealed for Violation of Smog Restrictions

In a bid to tackle severe smog, authorities in Lahore have intensified enforcement of an 8 p.m. market closure policy, leading to the sealing of dozens of shops, wedding halls, and restaurants.

Reports indicate that 75 shops and several wedding halls across Lahore were sealed for violating the mandated closing time, while 14 restaurants were closed for defying the ban on outdoor dining.

In Shalimar Tehsil, authorities sealed 9 shops and 3 restaurants for non-compliance, while in City Tehsil, 4 shops were shut down for staying open beyond designated hours.

In Ravi Tehsil, 12 shops were sealed, and in Raiwind Tehsil, 4 restaurants and 4 shops were closed for violations. In Cantonment Tehsil, 5 shops and 3 restaurants were sealed, while in Saddar Tehsil, 5 shops were shut down for failing to adhere to the closure order.

Last Friday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) mandated that all markets close by 8:00 p.m. daily and remain closed on Sundays to address Lahore’s worsening smog. Justice Shahid Karim, issuing the order, noted that despite numerous hearings and calls for action, effective anti-smog measures have been lacking, emphasizing the importance of enforceable solutions.

The market closure ruling followed performance reports from various government departments on their anti-smog efforts. The court also directed authorities to restrict vehicle access on motorways and the Ring Road and to impose a complete ban on trucks and trailers entering the city.

  • Oh Poor Rija

Again ? Marriage halls or restaurants aren’t causing any smog

Smog comes from stubble burning and diesel from cars .

I see you and the govt don’t know how science works . Lol
