The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is under fire after failing to deliver on its promises to the national women’s cricket team.
Despite repeated public announcements of salary increments and support for women’s cricket, the PCB has not paid the players their salaries for several months, leading to growing frustration among the team.
Earlier this year, the PCB pledged a 3% salary increase for its women’s players. However, no progress has been made five months later, and the promised hike remains unfulfilled. The players, who have repeatedly voiced their concerns privately, are reportedly growing increasingly disillusioned with the board’s inaction.
The news was first reported by Sana Mir, the former captain of the women’s national team and current WCA member.
The promised contracts to women's cricketers are nowhere to be seen. They still haven't been paid for the last 5-6 months.

The delayed payments have cast a shadow over the PCB’s recent claims of commitment to developing women’s cricket.
In August, the PCB announced its ambitious plans for the women’s game, including expanding grassroots initiatives and enhancing financial incentives to attract more talent. However, these promises seem hollow in light of the current situation.
This issue comes amid broader criticism of the PCB’s administrative functioning. The board has been under scrutiny for its management of domestic cricket, delays in central contracts, and ongoing financial challenges.
The PCB is yet to release an official statement addressing the unpaid salaries or the delay in implementing the salary hike.
