Xiaomi’s Next Electric Car is The YU7 SUV Launching in 2025

Xiaomi is set to launch its second electric vehicle, the YU7 SUV, in the summer of 2025, following the success of the SU7 sedan. YU7 aims to compete in the electric SUV market, which includes rivals like Tesla’s Model Y. According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the vehicle is undergoing extensive testing to ensure high quality before its official release in June or July 2025.

Regulatory filings from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reveal that the YU7 measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. It weighs 2,405 kilograms and can reach a top speed of 253 kilometers per hour. The SUV is powered by dual electric motors, offering a maximum output of 295 hp at the front and 386 hp at the rear.

The powertrain is supported by a Li-ion ternary battery supplied by CATL, though its capacity is yet to be disclosed.

YU7 will be manufactured at Xiaomi EV’s factory in Yizhuang, Beijing, marking another step in the company’s ambitious EV expansion. Its inclusion in the MIIT catalog signals that it has cleared a significant regulatory hurdle, and public feedback is being collected before final approvals.

With the YU7, Xiaomi is poised to strengthen its position in the competitive electric vehicle industry while catering to the growing demand for sustainable transportation.
