The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started replacing tiles on the median in front of the G-6 weekly bazaar, just a year after the previous ones were installed.
According to sources, the red tiles laid on the median of the double road in front of the bazaar have been removed, and new ones are now being installed. This has raised questions about the apparent misuse of public funds. A CDA engineer called for the chairman to launch an inquiry into the matter.
The work is being handled by the Market and Road Maintenance (MRM) Directorate of the CDA. However, one official alleged that the project is being executed without an open tender process. This claim, however, could not be confirmed as the CDA spokesperson was unable to provide details.
The official further claimed that similar tile replacement work was recently carried out on the median near Aabpara. He urged the CDA management to investigate the matter, noting that it could uncover irregularities in other projects as well.
When contacted, CDA’s Director of Media, Shahid Kiani, stated he would comment after consulting with the MRM Director, Mashooq Ali Sheikh. Later, Kiani said he had been unable to reach the director but assured that action would be taken if any wrongdoing was found.
