Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has announced that employees with fake degrees will be removed from Pakistan Television (PTV).
According to Aaj TV, during a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information on Tuesday, he said the process of verifying employee degrees will be completed by January 31.
He stressed that even if 200 employees have to be dismissed due to fake degrees, it will be done. The minister pointed out that previous management followed a “never go home” policy, rehiring retired employees on high salaries.
He added that 12 individuals hired under this policy have already been dismissed. Steps are now being taken to ensure transparency and promote a merit-based work environment at PTV.
The meeting also discussed proposed changes to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA). Committee member Asiya Naz Tanoli suggested creating a board to oversee content on entertainment channels, including dramas and advertisements unsuitable for family viewing.
The PEMRA chairman stated that discussions with channel representatives have already begun and recommended forming a sub-committee to consult further and develop a collective strategy.
The committee reviewed ways to improve transparency and raise the quality of media content in PTV and PEMRA operations.

Wah ji. What a punishment! If it were China or Russia they would have been hung upside down along with the persons who forged the degrees.
