HTC has launched a new entry-level smartphone, the Wildfire E5 Plus, though it’s built by an ODM rather than HTC directly. Despite its modest internals, the phone has a modern design and large display at a low price.
Design and Display
The Wildfire E5 Plus features a 6.75-inch screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and 720p+ resolution. While HTC hasn’t confirmed the panel type, it’s likely an IPS LCD. A teardrop notch at the top houses the front-facing camera, giving the phone a clean, contemporary look.
Internals and Software
Powering the phone is a Unisoc T606 chipset paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, expandable via a microSD card slot. However, the chip lacks 5G support, limiting the device to 4G networks. The phone runs on Android 14, which is not the latest version but still comes with relatively new features.
Cameras
On the rear, the phone packs a 50MP main camera along with a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots. Up front, there’s a 16MP selfie camera embedded in the notch. This setup offers basic but capable photo performance for an entry-level device.
Battery and Pricing
The device comes equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery, though HTC hasn’t provided details on its charging speed. Considering its budget tier, the phone likely doesn’t charge very fast.
The Wildfire E5 Plus is launching in Vietnam first with a price tag of $93. There’s no word yet on global availability, but hopefully, this phone comes to Pakistan eventually.
