Karachi Announces Traffic Plan for PSL X Matches

The National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi is getting ready to host some matches of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) X, and to avoid any unnecessary disruptions for commuters, the city’s traffic police have issued a detailed traffic plan to prevent any mishaps.

The landmark 10th edition of the PSL will begin this Friday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, while Karachi, Multan, and Lahore will also host a share of the 34 scheduled matches. Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium will host the business end of the tournament, including the two Eliminators and the grand final.

Here’s how the venue breakdown looks for PSL 10:

  • Lahore – 13 matches (including Eliminators and Final)
  • Rawalpindi – 11 matches
  • Karachi – 5 matches
  • Multan – 5 matches

Karachi’s Traffic Management Plan

Karachi’s share of PSL 10 fixtures will take place at the National Bank Cricket Arena (formerly National Stadium), with matches scheduled for April 12, 15, 18, 20, and 21. In anticipation of cricket fever gripping the city, the Karachi traffic police have rolled out a detailed traffic and parking plan to facilitate fans and minimize congestion around the stadium.

Parking Details for Fans

Special parking arrangements have been set up at the National Coaching Centre and China Ground along Sir Shah Suleman Road. Access routes vary depending on where fans are arriving from:

  • From Karsaz: Take Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road, pass under the stadium flyover, and park at the National Coaching Centre/China Ground.
  • From Millennium: Proceed along Stadium Road (Peer Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi Road), turn right under the stadium flyover, and head to the parking area.
  • From Newtown: Use Stadium Road, turn left after Aga Khan Hospital, and reach the designated parking on Sir Shah Suleman Road.

Sir Shah Suleman Road itself will remain open for traffic in both directions throughout match days.

Routes Closed to Heavy Traffic

To ease the flow of vehicles around the stadium, heavy transport will not be allowed on key routes, including:

  • Sohrab Goth to NIPA
  • Liaquatabad No. 10 to Hassan Square
  • PPP Chowrangi to University Road
  • Karsaz to the Stadium
  • Millennium to New Town
  • Stadium Signal to Hassan Square

Advisory for the Public

Karachi police have urged the public to cooperate fully with law enforcement and follow the traffic instructions in place. Fans are strictly advised not to park on service lanes or main roads near the stadium.
