Colin Munro Accuses Iftikhar Ahmed of Chucking During PSL Match

The ongoing Pakistan Super League fixture between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans heated up after Islamabad’s Colin Munro appeared to question Iftikhar Ahmed’s bowling action.

The incident occurred in the 10th over when Iftikhar was bowling to the New Zealander. After defending a darting delivery, Munro gestured toward Iftikhar, which many, including those in the commentary box, interpreted as an accusation of “throwing” or “chucking” in cricketing terms. Iftikhar took exception to the gesture and appeared furious before walking over to the umpires to lodge a complaint.

Multan Sultans’ captain Mohammad Rizwan was also involved in the brief verbal exchange with the Kiwi before the umpires stepped in to diffuse the situation. Ironically, it was Iftikhar who took Munro’s catch to send him packing in the very next over, leading to an outburst from the New Zealander in the dressing room afterward.

While on-field scuffles are nothing new, only the standing umpires have the jurisdiction to judge or call into question a bowler’s action, as previously happened with Usman Tariq. Whether Ahsan Raza or Chris Brown will pursue this matter further remains to be seen, but a fine for everyone involved is not out of the question after a clear breach of competition rules.

On the field, however, it seems Colin Munro will have the last laugh, as his team appears primed to secure five wins out of five in PSL 2025.
