Mohammad Rizwan and Colin Munro Heavily Fined After Heated Argument

Multan Sultans’ captain Mohammad Rizwan and Islamabad United’s Colin Munro have been heavily punished following an altercation during last night’s game in Multan.

The incident occurred when the Kiwi made a throwing or “chucking” gesture toward Sultans’ bowler Iftikhar Ahmed, which Rizwan did not take lightly. Pakistan’s ODI captain had some words with Munro before the umpires got involved to deescalate the situation. The duo was reported for their part and have now learned their fate.

After judgment, Colin Munro and Mohammad Rizwan have both been fined 30% of their match fees after being charged with a Level 2 breach of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Code of Conduct. The two high-profile players were found guilty of violating Article 2.13 of the PSL’s Code, which deals with “personal abuse of a player, player support personnel, umpire, or match referee during a match.”

The fines were imposed by the match referee after a hearing with the involved parties. Both Munro and Rizwan accepted the sanctions, negating the need for a formal disciplinary hearing. The matter was put to rest at the end of the game, where cameras caught Rizwan and Munro making up after the altercation.

This marks a rare moment of controversy for two players who are typically regarded as composed and professional on the field. Rizwan, in particular, is known for his calm leadership and has previously been praised for maintaining discipline under pressure. Munro, meanwhile, is among the most experienced overseas names in the PSL and has been a key figure for Islamabad United over the past several seasons.

The PSL has prided itself on maintaining high standards of on-field behavior, and the enforcement of penalties in this case serves as a reminder that even brief lapses in conduct will not go unchecked.

Rizwan and Munro’s altercation was the only sour spot in an otherwise entertaining match, which Islamabad eventually won with ease.
