Former New Zealand captain and Karachi Kings star Kane Williamson has praised Pakistan’s fast bowling prowess, singling out Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf as two of the most challenging bowlers he has ever faced.
Speaking exclusively to Cricket Pakistan, Williamson, who is widely respected for his calm, technical mastery at the crease, spoke at length about the enduring quality and depth of Pakistan’s pace resources.
“Pakistan has always had great depth in their fast bowling, which has been one of their biggest strengths over the years,” Williamson said. “There are a lot of threats whenever you face them.”
The 33-year-old, who has battled some of the finest attacks across formats, reserved particular praise for left-arm spearhead Shaheen Afridi and the fiery Haris Rauf.
“Shaheen has been incredible, especially with the new ball,” Williamson noted. “And Haris Rauf has been a fantastic performer for Pakistan for a long time. Both have done really, really well.”
Kane Williamson’s comments add to the growing list of international endorsements for Pakistan’s fast bowling unit, long considered a hallmark of the country’s cricketing identity.
Shaheen, known for his devastating early breakthroughs, and Haris, with his pace and death-overs expertise, have both played pivotal roles in Pakistan’s success in recent years across formats. Their impact has not only been recognized on the field but has also been praised by leading contemporaries around the world.
Kane Williamson will get a chance to test his mettle against the two pacers when Karachi Kings face Lahore Qalandars on May 4. Before that, Williamson will be hoping to make his PSL bow against Multan Sultans on May 1.
