The Lahore High Court has issued a strict order directing rickshaw dealers not to hand over any vehicles to buyers without a valid driving license.
During the hearing of a petition related to smog and environmental pollution, the court was presented with a report on negotiations between the transport department and rickshaw manufacturers.
In its written verdict, the court stated that, based on earlier directives, the transport department had asked manufacturers not to sell rickshaws without a fitness certificate.
The court further directed that clear regulations be established between manufacturers and dealers regarding the sale of rickshaws, and that manufacturers should not be granted license renewals unless they meet all the set conditions.
The court has instructed the transport department to submit a detailed report by May 2.
