Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal has reached the top of the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings, becoming the No. 1 bowler in the world in the shortest format.
The 28-year-old spinner moved up one spot after England’s Sophie Ecclestone, who had been at the top, missed her team’s recent T20I series against the West Indies. Sadia Iqbal had briefly held the No. 1 spot during last year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, and her consistent performances have helped her return to the summit.
Sadia was one of Pakistan’s top performers at the 2024 T20 World Cup. Known for her tight lines and clever variations, she has been key in Pakistan’s recent progress in women’s cricket.
In 41 T20Is, she has claimed an incredible 52 wickets at an economy rate of just 5.77, while in WODIs she has taken 27 wickets in 23 matches.
England’s Lauren Bell, who took seven wickets against the West Indies, jumped 13 places to No. 6. Other English bowlers Linsey Smith and Issy Wong also climbed the rankings after strong showings.
But it was Sadia Iqbal’s steady impact and control that saw her rewarded with the No. 1 ranking—a major milestone for Pakistan women’s cricket.
