RDA Speeds Up Campaign to Recover Remaining Payment from Housing Societies

Facing financial constraints, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has intensified its recovery efforts in the final month of the 2024–25 fiscal year to collect outstanding dues from housing schemes and commercial buildings.

The authority had aimed to recover Rs 275 million in scrutiny and approval fees from housing projects but has so far collected Rs 228 million, leaving a shortfall of Rs 23.315 million. Similarly, it set a target of Rs 735 million under commercialisation fees, building plan approvals, and building control charges; yet, only Rs 519.821 million has been recovered to date, falling short by Rs 215.179 million.

In response, RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza expressed concern over the slow pace of collections and directed the Building and Planning branches to accelerate the recovery process before the fiscal year concludes on June 30.

She stressed that clearing outstanding dues is a top priority and called for stronger coordination among departments. Staff were instructed to strictly follow recovery procedures while ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accountability throughout the process.

“The financial health of the RDA is critical to our ability to deliver services effectively to the people of Rawalpindi,” said Murtaza. “Delays and negligence in recovery efforts are unacceptable.”

She reaffirmed the RDA’s commitment to responsible urban planning, proper use of resources, and strict enforcement of regulations to support sustainable city development.
