The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced a revised toll structure across Pakistan’s motorways, introducing a 50% surcharge for all vehicles that do not have M-Tags or maintain an insufficient balance. The revised rates will take effect from June 15, 2025.
Additional Charges for Non-M-Tag Vehicles
Under the new policy, vehicles operating on the motorway network without an active M-Tag or with a low balance will be charged 50% more than the standard toll. This adjustment, authorized under Section 10(2)(vii) of the NHA Act (1991), is aimed at promoting the use of M-Tags to streamline toll collection and reduce congestion.
Revised Toll Rates Across Major Routes
The updated toll rates for various motorway sections are as follows (including the 50% surcharge for non-compliant vehicles):
- M-2 (Lahore – Islamabad): Rs. 1,800 for cars
- M-3 (Lahore – Abdul Hakeem): Rs. 1,200 for cars
- M-4 (Pindi Bhattian – Multan): Rs. 1,600 for cars
- M-5 (Multan – Sukkur): Rs. 1,800 for cars
- M-14 (D.I. Khan – Hakla): Rs. 1,000 for cars
- E-35 (Hasan Abdal – Mansehra Expressway): Rs. 450 for cars
Higher Rates for Commercial Vehicles
Commercial vehicles will also see significant toll increases if they are not M-Tag compliant. Notable examples include:
- Lahore – Islamabad (M-2)
- 2 & 3 axle trucks: Rs. 7,900
- Articulated trucks: Rs. 10,200
These figures reflect the revised pricing, inclusive of the 50% penalty for non-M-Tag or low balance status.
Implementation and Advisory
The NHA has directed all relevant departments and toll collection partners to update systems and enforce the new rates from mid-June. Motorists are being strongly advised to ensure their vehicles are equipped with active M-Tags and sufficient balance to avoid incurring additional charges.
For full details, the NHA has circulated an official notification and uploaded the revised toll chart on its website. Authorities have emphasized that this step is necessary to modernize toll operations and enhance overall motorway efficiency.

This is daylight robbery 😠
wow even for low balance??
World’s best leaders and heads of institutions running this country what good can you aspect 🤣🤣🤣 freedom of speech
Feroun zinda hy
Why don’t they reduce for M-tag with good balance?
50% is not enough, it must be double than usual,
1.This is very unfortunate, on one side they have increased the 100% toll in last one year, furthermore they want advance money from public, if a person travel rarely or once in a month on Motorway why he/she suppose to keep balance in the NHA account. Why people shall pay/keep in advance millions in NHA/govt account.
2.When at toll plaza they recharge the M-Tags they accept only cash not the bank card for recharge, if they really interested to digital the system then they must accept the bank cards for recharge as well.
3. Why do we need M-Tags account balance, why not simply swap/scan the bank debit/credit cards at toll plaza to through instead to collect cash or M-tags account balance payment.
Total rip off, expect country with high illetracy to be e-friendly, NHA live in fools paradise… GoP should stop this nonsence, instead every transition is gradual, manual cannot be closed as many will come without M-tags, why rip them. Even in west, no such rip off for manual toll payers… There is a case as many in Pakistan are may be once in a year motorways users
They are the most incompetent, inefficient, corrupt and immoral government made by establishment which proves the distance between elite and masses
Phir tum loag freedom of expression esi keay nahi dete ho k tumhari herkatein eisi hein k tumhari G ,A N D bjany ka dill chahta hei,, pani bherne hai thi ekhlaqiyat es mulk mein
This massive increase, when the government is boasting little to no inflationcan, can only be justified by the Marshals in FWO who have an unlimited appetite for everything.
Such things only happen where certain people and institutions know they are above everything and beyond any accountability.
The toll has more than doubled since the takeover by FWO.
Long live the…..
