The Karachi Traffic Police (KTP) on Thursday released a comprehensive traffic plan for the 8th to 10th of Muharram.
The plan details procession routes, alternative traffic flows, and strict access controls in key areas of the city.
According to the KTP, all major Muharram processions from July 5 to 7 will start at Nishtar Park and end at Hussainiya Iraniyan Imam Bargah.
For security reasons, MA Jinnah Road will remain closed from Guru Mandir to Tower throughout the processions.
The police outlined specific routes for participants coming from different areas:
To minimize disruption, the KTP has advised alternative routes for commuters:
Traffic police will divert heavy and commercial vehicles coming from Super Highway and Gulberg from Liaquatabad to Nazimabad Chowrangi, then through Habib Bank Flyover to State Avenue Road, Shershah, and Maripur.
The same routes apply for return journeys. No traffic will be allowed onto MA Jinnah Road beyond Gurumandir Chowk unless the vehicle has a special sticker for procession entry.
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon announced that the provincial government has implemented “foolproof” security measures for Muharram.
Over 49,000 police personnel will be deployed across Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, and Shaheed Benazirabad from the 8th to 10th of Muharram.
In Karachi alone, more than 20,000 officers and personnel will be on duty until Ashura.
